About Us
Henning Fire
Henning Fire started off with an old 1950's Seagrave fire truck. It shared a battery with the towns garbage truck. When there was a call, members had to quickly swap the battery before being able to respond.
Today, Henning Fire houses two 1250 gallon Pumper tankers, one 3000 gallon tanker, one 65 foot ladder truck, an ATV and a reserve 1250 gallon pumper tanker. We also hold all the tools and equipment for any task set in front of us.
We protect not only the Town Of Henning but we also cover our county district that spans 47 square miles.
Henning Fire holds an Class 5 ISO rating. The department missed the 4 score by a few points. We are on track of gaining a 4 if not a 3 on our next audit.
ISO sets your insurance rates on a scale from 1 to 10. The lower the score, the better the rate.
Our full time neighbors Covington Fire and Ripley Fire hold a score of 2 and 4 respectfully.
The men and women that make up the department are some of the most dedicated people you will find. As a volunteer department, the calls come in at all hours. The training is long and the time away from family feels even longer. It is my privilege to have them as my crew.
As a volunteer department, we boast a average response time of 7 minutes from the time we recieve a 911 call to the time we are on scene.
Even on a limited budget, we are always training and looking for ways to better the department and ourselves.
Henning Fire Chief,
Al Stankey
